King Salmon Air Station  – Site Inspection

About this Project

The Multiple Site Inspection (MSI) activities were conducted to further evaluate twenty locations at seven different sites at the King Salmon Air Station (KSA) in King Salmon, Alaska. These sites were investigated as part of the Environmental Restoration Program (ERP) at KSA during the 2006 Preliminary Investigation/Site Inspection. The primary objective of this project was to determine through sampling activities whether the sites had contaminated soils, groundwater, and/or surface water as a result of past site activities. An inspection at each of the designated sites was performed by collecting and analyzing surface and subsurface soil samples, installing both temporary and permanent monitoring wells at locations where groundwater contamination was suspected, and collecting groundwater samples from the monitoring wells installed. Surface water samples were also collected at one of the sites.
